Choose from 8 stunning layouts

Your Wix Blog comes with 8 beautiful layouts. From your blog's settings, choose the layout that’s right for you. For example, a tiled layout is popular for helping visitors discover more posts that interest them. Or, choose a classic single column layout that lets readers scroll down and see your post topics one by one.

Every layout comes with the latest social features built in. Readers can easily share posts on social networks like Facebook and Twitter and view how many people have liked a post, made comments and more.

Add media to your posts

When creating your posts you can:

Upload images or GIFs

Embed videos and music

Create galleries to showcase a media collection

Customize the look of your media by making it widescreen or small and easily align media inside your posts.

Hashtag your posts

Love to #hashtag? Good news!

You can add tags (#vacation #dream #summer) throughout your posts to reach more people. Why hashtag? People can use your hashtags to search through content on your blog and find the content that matters to them. So go ahead and #hashtag away!

Join Surge Reproductive Justice for an evening of community, stories, food, music, and healing on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 6-8:30pm.

There are many issues happening that our communities are more than justified to feel rage about. So often we are told that rage is a place we should not go to, especially by those who hold privilege. Join us for an open mic night to share and heal together.

ABOUT OUR WORK

Surge stands with communities whose bodies, lives, and families have been subject to state and social control. We advance racial and reproductive justice through community engagement, education, and policy advocacy by mobilizing Northwest communities. Surge is a Reproductive Justice (RJ) organization. RJ is an approach to health equity and reproductive health that uses a holistic lens to look at the whole person, their family, and their community for opportunities for empowerment. The RJ approach brings together diverse communities and perspectives to reach solutions that are led by the communities most affected by reproductive oppression and racial injustice.

SURGE Reproductive Justice is launching the EmPATH (Empowering People Through Access to Transformative Healing) Project. This initiative was created in partnership with local doulas and prison support organizations. We seek to help pregnant people in jails and prisons have a better pregnancy experience through working with a doula, either in person or remotely. Our doulas come together from a variety of backgrounds and experiences with the common goal of providing the necessary emotional and physical support that is largely lacking in the prison environment. Since the United States criminal justice system operates with vast race, class, and gender biases, the SURGE Prison Doula Project intentionally prioritizes issues of discrimination and disproportionate health outcomes for marginalized people at the forefront of our work.

You may have noticed some changes here on the site – we have a new web address and a subtly different logo – which reflect changes that are happening in the real world of Surge. Surge is growing, and we wanted our online presence and visual representation to reflect our expanding work and vision. After having started as Surge Northwest, we decided to drop the “Northwest” part of our name. We like the simplicity of Surge by itself (and now it can be dually used as a noun and a verb as in “Surge for RJ!”) and while we remain committed to Seattle and Washington State place-based work, we are excited to build additional partnerships outside of the Northwest.

We find ourselves at an momentous point in Surge history, transitioning from an all-volunteer organization to a staffed organization. Over the past year, we’ve hired an amazing organizer and our first executive director, and are adding more staff this year. We are indebted to our founding members who have all worked incredibly hard to bring us to this point and who continue to work incredibly hard as current board members and unpaid staff.

What hasn’t changed? We’re still the only multiracial reproductive justice organization in Washington State led by people of color. We are continuing to advocate for the liberation of communities of color and low-income families. We are amplifying the stories and voices within our communities. We’re here for the long haul and we’re committed to justice.

Thanks to funding from the Urban Initiative for Reproductive Health, Surge Northwest will convene a Roundtable on Immigrants’ Access to Health Care in Seattle in the fall of 2013. We look forward to working closely with the Seattle Women’s Commission and the Seattle Office for Immigrants and Refugees, and other local organizations, to consider service gaps in reproductive health care for immigrants in our city, and develop proposed solutions to meet those needs. You can find out more about the barriers immigrants face in accessing health services from our Policy Platform paper on Immigrants & Reproductive Health.
